Safety Devices started life in Newmarket, 10 miles east of Cambridge England, in 1972 when the FIA introduced requirements that racing cars needed roll cages.
"Over the years Safety Devices became the pre-eminent supplier of cages and bodyshell preparation to major race and rally teams, and a badge of quality in the motor sport world. As a former international rally driver and team manager, owner Tony Fall was able to apply his considerable experience, on and off track, to the further development of the company.
The company has been through many changes since then. In 2005 new investors, including Tony Fall and his wife Patricia restructured the Company into the form it is today. Manufacturing was moved onto the Continent and Newmarket became the HQ, design and testing centre as well as nerve centre handling sales through a new network of stockists. To ensure that quality was maintained, the change required careful handling from set up, manufacturing, through quality control and distribution. Four years later the quality is better than ever and the Company has a growing band of loyal customers and enthusiastic supporters of the business.
In 2007/8 we manufactured 2,493 cages, more than we have ever made and our influence is continuing to spread all over the world with sales in Africa, the Middle East, North and South America, Australia as well as all parts of Europe. The company has become a truly International Company.
Unfortunately, at the end of 2007 MD, Tony Fall, died while on the East African Classic Safari Rally. His widow, Patricia Fall, took the helm to be joined by investor, Gavin Davidson. Despite this setback, the list of customers grows, both large and small and the business is expanding by sticking to its core skills in the design, development and manufacture of the world’s best roll cages.
